Testator: Rebecca Osgood, Liberty County, State of Georgia


  • I give and bequeath to Mr. Thomas Mallard, with whom I now reside, my negro boy Edward, and my four wheel carriage, and in consideration of his kindness and attention, I give and bequeath to him the said Thomas Mallard the sum of four hundred dollars, if there should be so much due on his note from him to me. If there should not be so much due on said note, I then give and bequeath to him the balance that shall be found due.”

  • I give and bequeath to my niece Rebecca E. Mallard my firedogs, shovel and tongs.”

  • I give and bequeath my bureau to Amanda Caroline, and Rebecca Ann, daughters of my nephew William Quarterman Baker. “

  • I give and bequeath to my said nephew William Q. Baker the remainder of my estate, to him, his heirs and assigns forever; my said nephew to pay out of my estate to my brother Elijah Baker, annually, during his natural life, three shares of the neat proceeds of the labor or hire of the working slaves herein bequeathed to him, after first deducting my said brother’s proportion or the expense of food, clothing, taxes, medicine and medical attendance, and other necessary expenses of the said laboring slaves. “
